The UFC’s October 13th to Rio de Janeiro, which will serve as UFC 153 has a card that’s now nearing completion and the latest addition is in the middleweight division, as Brazilian native, Luiz Cane, makes his first drop down to 185 lbs. to take on Chris Camozzi. The UFC confirmed the bout on Twitter:

Cane, a muay thai specialist hailing from Sao Paulo, has rarely been in a boring fight, having gone to only one decision in his 17-fight career, but he’s found himself on the losing end of three of his last four UFC fights at light heavyweight. Despite his entertaining and aggressive style, Cane has had difficulties shoring up his striking defense, and those three losses have all come via first-round knockout or TKO. “Banha” was hoping a drop down to 185 lbs. would reinvigorate his career but he was forced out a scheduled bout with Yushin Okami later this month due to injury, and will instead face Camozzi (who also coincidentally dropped out of the same UFC 150 card due to injury) in his native Brazil.

Camozzi didn’t attract a lot of attention during his time on the 11th season of The Ultimate Fighter, mainly due to his stint there being short-lived as he was forced off the show with a broken jaw. He returned and put together two wins in a row in the Octagon, but was suprisingly cut by the UFC after his first loss to Kyle Noke. A win over Joey Villasenor on the regional circuit got Camozzi his ticket back to the UFC, and despite faltering against talented French-Canadian, Francis Carmont, he’s racked up two more back-to-back wins (both via stoppage) against Dustin Jacoby and Nick Catone in his most recent fights.
