Antonio Silva has lost two bouts in a row, but that hasn’t stopped him from getting slotted into the main event at the re-tooled UFC on FX 5 in Minneapolis on October 5th. He’ll take on Travis Browne, who was supposed to fight next weekend at UFC on Fox 4 but his opponent, Ben Rothwell, got injured. Bigfoot spoke to Tatame about the fight, and about the added pressure of kicking his losing streak on a big stage. First, he talks about Hapa:
Has no easy fights in the UFC,” Silva told TATAME. “He’s a striker. His stand-up is pretty good and he’s also a purple belt in Jiu-Jitsu, with good takedown defenses. He’s a tough guy, will be a good fight”.
Then he talked about his last two fights:
“I lost both times in quick fights, I couldn’t show my work. Velasquez and Cormier are two top fighters too, it’s not like I lost to a nobody. Dana White knows what I can do and I’m happy with this chance”, he said.
This is one of the few times lately that I can remember fans being happy with a FX main event. I certainly like it.
