More changes are coming to the preliminary card of UFC on FOX 4, this time with the announcement that English heavyweight Rob Broughton has withdrawn from his scheduled clash with Matt Mitrione. It is unknown at this point whether or not Mitrione will have a replacement opponent with just 10 days before fight night, but it’s probably unlikely. MMA Junkie explains why Broughton pulled out:

The matchup, which UFC officials first announced in May, was pulled so that Broughton can deal with a few personal matters.

While the UFC has not announced the news themselves, it should be pointed out that this fight has not been listed on their event page for several weeks. Hopefully the matters are not too serious for Mr. Broughton.

Broughton is 1-2 in the UFC but both defeats have come in his last two fights, so his fight with Mitrione was very much a case of “win or be released” matchmaking. Mitrione, a former NFL player and a semifinalist on season 10 of The Ultimate Fighter, was coming off of his first professional loss, a unanimous decision to Cheick Kongo at UFC 137. All six of his pro fights have taken place inside the Octagon.

This now leaves the UFC with 10 confirmed fights, with the 11th pending on who will replace Ian McCall against John Moraga.
