UFC Video: Junior Dos Santos Says Alistair Overeem Talks A Lot Of S**t

Junior dos Santos spoke to Fuel TV’s Ariel Helwani following this past UFC on Fuel TV event and talked about why he isn’t fighting on the upcoming Toronto card among other things. One thing that jumped out at me is how clear JDS’ English is getting. If you’re a person who thinks you can’t be a star without speaking English, Junior has that pretty well covered.

Here’s the video:

Junior also had some pretty stern words for Alistair Overeem when the topic of Overeem’s trash talk came up.

Quote after the jump.

Junior addressed some of Overeem’s recent comments that he is happy Alistair is out of action because he is “scared” of the former Strikeforce champion:

“I’m afraid? Ooooh man, this guy. Man, Chael Sonnen is cool that he has more students. Yeah, he’s gonna start to talk a lot of s—, you know? Because, he saw the UFC gave the chance for Chael to fight Anderson again. But, man, I’m not afraid of him. I’m not afraid of anybody here. If he thinks he is better than me, come to fight with me. Soon he’ll feel the power of my hands and he’s gonna change his mind.”

I know I held out too long on getting on the JDS bandwagon, but he’s really impressing me with his charming personality and ability to hype up a fight without coming across too cartoony or over the top. There’s also the little matter of him proving his skills against a variety of opponents.

I’m very excited to see dos Santos defend his UFC heavyweight crown against Cain Velasquez and Overeem. A stable heavyweight champion is always a good thing for the sport.
