For the past month, UFC president Dana White has talked about an ailment that he is struggling with called Meniere’s Disease, “an inner ear disorder that affects balance and hearing” as defined on Wikipedia.
The seemingly non-stop White has explained in the past about how the disorder affects him during his extensive travel and he was due to have surgery recently that was suddenly canceled. On Inside MMA Monday night, White went into further detail about his health issues and some fears he’s having.
In the two-minute clip, White explains how he’s at odds with his doctor who wants to do treatment, while he is lobbying for surgery which would cut the nerve and require three weeks of intensive rehab. He talked about his fear of having flare-ups happen when he’s in a foreign country where doctors might not be familiar with how to treat it.
White will be taxed this upcoming weekend as the UFC has back-to-back events in completely different countries. However, the 42-year-old will attend both, starting in New Jersey Friday with UFC on FX 3 and taking the extremely long flight down to Belo Horizonte, Brazil, following the show to make Saturday’s UFC 147.
