UFC Light Heavyweight champion Jon Jones was expected in court today. The 24 year old champion was scheduled to appear in court today to receive sentencing for his May 26 DWI arrest. But it appears we will have to wait just a big longer to see how this all wraps up.

According to the Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin (the local paper for Binghamton, NY, where Jones faces sentencing), Jones has had his court date postponed. He will now be sentenced on July 3.

Jones has already pled guilty to the DWI, and now just awaits sentencing. He also is required to take part in an alcohol abuse and dependency assessment before that sentencing.

Based on Jones’s clean prior record, plus his position as UFC champion, I don’t expect he will face much in the way of sentencing here. Expect something more along the lines of a slap on the wrist rather than anything that will impact his UFC career.

Jones is next scheduled to step into the Octagon on September 1 to defend his UFC Light Heavyweight title against Dan Henderson at UFC 151.
