Exactly one week ago, bantamweight Dustin Pague pulled off a rousing upset over Jared Papazian by submission on the UFC on FX 3: Johnson vs. McCall card. MMAFighting reports that Pague has agreed to fill in for Francisco Rivera, who contracted a staph infection, against Ken Stone on next Friday’s (June 22) UFC on FX 4 event.
Pague is a former Ring of Combat bantamweight champion who appeared on Season 14 of The Ultimate Fighter. On the reality show, he submitted Louis Gaudinot in his first go but was picked off by eventual finalist T.J. Dillashaw, who controlled him en route to a decision. At the TUF 14 Live Finale, John Albert defeated Pague by 1st-round TKO and handled him thoroughly, but Pague rebounded in style by choking out Papazian last week.
UFC on FX 4, which takes place in Atlantic City, New Jersey, is captained by a lightweight clash between perennial contenders Clay Guida and Gray Maynard. The complete fight card is listed in the full entry.
