The UFC is officially returning to the UK on September 29th. UFC on Fuel 5 will take place in the Capital FM Arena in Nottingham, England and they announced two bouts for the card today. UFC.com has the news:
The event will be a first for the UFC® in Nottingham and will see Newcastle’s Andy Ogle, a semifinalist on the most recent season of The Ultimate Fighter® Live – who was injured and unable to compete in the Finale, petitioned UFC President for a shot to fight in his native country and was given the chance to meet fellow TUF alum Akira Corassani of Sweden in a featherweight bout. While English bantamweight contender, and two-time UFC Fight of the Night winner, Brad Pickett, will square off against Canadian Yves Jabouin.
Pickett is coming off a win over Damacio Page at UFC on Fuel 2 and has picked up fight of the night bonuses in three of his last four fights. Jabouin is 3-0 at 135 so far with wins over Ian Loveland, Walel Watson, and Jeff Hougland.
Ogle couldn’t compete on the TUF Live Finale due to getting knocked out in the quarter-finals, and asked for a bout on this card instead (info via Fraser Coffeen, since I didn’t watch the show). Corassani has yet to compete in the UFC due to injuries, but did make it to the semi-finals of TUF 14.
Dan Hardy is expected to compete on the card as well, due to Nottingham being his home town.
