Former WEC lightweight Urijah Faber has every right to be frustrated after all the stuff that’s gone down in the last couple of months. He was scheduled to face UFC bantamweight champion (and opposing TUF Live coach) Dominick Cruz for the title in the main event of UFC 148 on July 7th. Then he was dropped to the co-main when Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen 2 was moved to the card. Then Cruz got hurt, and Dana White apparently lied to Faber about the replacement (who ended up being Renan Barao). And now his interim title fight has been moved back two weeks, from one of the biggest events of the year to a Canadian card.
Faber talked to KXTV News 10 about the switch, and admitted that he’s not happy about it but still thinks it will be an awesome matchup. You can catch the video here, and some choice quotes after the jump.
SBN coverage of UFC 149: Faber Vs. Barao
“I’m really not happy about all the changes, but there is nothing I can do. The worst part about it I had a lot people coming to support me (in Las Vegas), because I had been promoting the same date for the past four months.
…
I was really happy to be a part of that. But my event is going to be awesome as well. Barao and myself have a chance to be fight of the year.”
“I know there is a lot of great Canadian fans,” Faber said. “Style wise we match up really great to make an exciting fight, it is for a world title, it is going to be good.”
