USA Wrestling were unable to make it to the finals of the 2012 Freestyle Wrestling World Cup after a slip against Iran in Round 4 yesterday. A lot was riding on Keith Gavin to defeat opponent Ehsan Amini at 84KG for them to be in with a chance of reaching the finals, but after a spirited effort yesterday it was not to be.
The home town crowd in Baku, Azerbaijan are about to go nuts if their team can beat Iran in the finals coming up shortly, but USA was still able to come in third overall as a team by beating old rivals Russia for Bronze. Superstar and Olympic Gold Medal hopeful Jordan Burroughs went undefeated this weekend, and his winning match sealed the deal for USA to medal, while most of his team mates including Jake Varner had mixed results.

Earlier this morning before USA met Russia for third place, USA met Georgia in a dual, winning 6 matches to 1.
