UFC To Expand TUF Franchise Again With UK Vs. Australia Theme

MMA fans may get their third version of the UFC’s The Ultimate Fighter franchise to consume as Fight Bulletin is reporting that a United Kingdom vs. Australia version is on the docket for this fall.

There was no information given as to potential weight classes, but they did say an announcement should be coming in the next 30 days and that UFC on Fuel victor Brad Pickett is a frontrunner to coach the UK team.

September 2012 is the expected launch date, but according to the story, there’s some additional details to be worked out.

The major decision for UFC officials to make is whether it will be a UK team or an England only team facing off against Australia in the show titled ‘The Smashes’. Providing it’s an UK team, Northern Ireland fighters will also be allowed to audition.

Assuming the show will be aired in those markets first, the UFC would likely replicate what they’re doing with TUF Brazil for North American fans, airing first on UFC.com and eventually on Fuel TV. Network VP George Greenberg said last week that the Brazil edition will begin airing after the current season of TUF concludes on FX.
