With former UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar resuming his former role in WWE in recent weeks, fellow top retired MMA fighters might consider doing the same. Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal was once recruited by WWE and has repeatedly talked about going to pro wrestling.
Now former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Tito Ortiz is making overtures that he might consider the squared circle post-MMA career, even though it’s probably more for inspiring fan chatter and getting posts on sites like this than anything based in reality.
Here’s what Ortiz tweeted to a fan asking about the subject on Tuesday:
At 37 years old and without the massively muscled build that owner Vince McMahon drools over, it’s unlikely anything will come of this. However, Ortiz has danced with pro wrestling before, doing a 2005 pay-per-view appearance with TNA Wrestling as a special guest referee. He made two subsequent appearances and had another special referee spot as well, getting physical all three times.
Ortiz is scheduled to fight Forrest Griffin at July’s UFC 148, expected to be his last fight.
