Citing Non-Payment, UFC’s Chan Sung Jung Severs Ties With Tri-Coasta

UFC featherweight contender Chan Sung Jung has parted ways with clothing sponsor Tri-Coasta, alleging that the company owes him in excess of $20,000.

Jung made an unforgettable stateside debut at WEC 48 and engaged Leonard Garcia in what many deemed a “Fight of the Decade” performance. MMA fans were elated with Jung and his popularity soared. Tri-Coasta manufactured Jung’s signature “Korean Zombie” t-shirt that spread like wildfire, one that even UFC president Dana White and longtime UFC commentator Joe Rogan flaunted with pride.

Jung’s contract with Tri-Coasta stipulated he’d receive a percentage of merchandise sales that remains outstanding. Jung’s manager and translator, Brian Rhee, claims Tri-Coasta is well aware of the overdue balance and has promised to settle up on many occasions, but never followed through with the full payment.

The Korean Top Team representative opted to speak out on the purported misdoing rather than to re-sign when his contract with Tri-Coasta expired recently. When contacted for a statement, a Tri-Coasta representative offered that, “Tri-Coasta will be responding in the near future.”

Chan Sung Jung is slated to face Dustin Poirier on May 15th in the main event of UFC on Fuel TV 3. The headlining bout will also serve as a #1 contender match to determine UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo’s next challenger.
