UFC president Dana White obviously was riled up by some of the comments about the format of this season’s The Ultimate Fighter debut and used a few minutes on his latest video blog to rip on the critics.
Here’s some highlights of the nine-minute clip that spans UFC 144 and UFC on FX 2 in Australia:
- While on the set of TUF Brazil, White said he wanted to “crush myths” about TUF. He reiterates that what he and coaches Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber were doing wasn’t commentary and that Jon Anik’s role will be just the host. “TUF will be the same as you remember it…just as raw and unedited as it ever was.” He said there’s no place for commentators at the gym as these fighters aren’t in the UFC.
- We go behind the scenes at UFC 144 in Japan with a dejected Quinton Jackson complaining about his knee but saying, “I don’t know what’s wrong with me.”
- White was shown talking to matchmaker Joe Silva about the sharp belt he was about to award Benson Henderson, which apparently was a new one.
- We see a furious White telling both Ian McCall and Demetrious Johnson about the Australian commission’s scoring tabulation error. After taking in the news, McCall asked, “Do I get my win bonus?” White is also shown talking to Martin Kampmann about his third round submission win.
