UFC 143 Results: Dana White Discusses Koscheck Vs. Fitch And Mike Swick

During the post UFC 143 “media scrum”, Dana White spoke with about 15 media members about a variety of topics related to the American Kickboxing Academy. For years White had attempted to match Josh Koscheck up with Jon Fitch but the fighters had always stated they were teammates and would never fight a teammate. With news that Koscheck had left the San Jose facility, the big question was if White would try and pursue the dream matchup between two top welterweights. His answer was sort of surprising.

“That’s what I whispered to him. I said now I’m doing the Jon Fitch fight. That’s what I said to him. He said good luck with that.” He added, “That’s what Lorenzo said. That’s what Lorenzo said too. I don’t know. No. I’m just f**king with him. If the fight made sense cause there was a time when those two were both going like this but if the fight made sense though then yeah, I’d try to make it. I wouldn’t do it just to do it.”

White was also asked about Mike Swick who has been out of action for two years as of today. He commented on Swick’s seemingly innate ability to injure himself by doing the most mundane activities. “I haven’t. I know that Joe Silva has. Swick hurts himself when he gets out of bed every day, you know? I love Swick. He’s one of my favorite guys but he’s Mr. Glass.”

Finally, Dana was asked to give his opinion of Josh Koscheck’s performance against Mike Pierce. Like many fans, he wasn’t impressed, saying “Josh looked flat tonight man. I expected Josh to have the faster hands. To let them go. He didn’t really let his hands go tonight. He looked flat.”

There will be more coverage of the media scrum but check out the UFC 143 interviews to hear what the fighters had to say in the lead up to the event and immediately afterwards here.
