Johny Hendricks landed a left hand to the jaw and dropped Jon Fitch. A follow up shot put Fitch out and referee Steve Mazzigatti stopped the fight. After the call Fitch was trying to take down the Maz, totally unaware that the fight was stopped. This was the biggest win of Johny Hendricks’ career and the replay shows Jon Fitch going stiff from the follow up shot. Fitch was widely considered the number two welterweight in the world. Johny Hendricks was very emotional in the post-fight interview with Joe Rogan. This was Jon Fitch’s second loss in the UFC and his comeback fight from shoulder surgery.
Jon Fitch entered the fight 23-3-1 in his career and 13-1-1 in the UFC. His fight with B.J. Penn went to a draw. Johny Hendricks came into the fight with Jon Fitch 6-1 in the UFC and 11-1 overall.
