UFC 141 Video: Brock Lesnar Speaks On His Return to MMA Against Alistair Overeem

Brock Lesnar faces Alistair Overeem at UFC 141 this Friday in Las Vegas, Nevada. At Tuesday’s open workouts, MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani caught up with Brock Lesnar to find out how the former UFC champion is doing as he prepares for his return to the UFC. Lesnar has been out battling diverticulitis which kept him out of his bout with Junior dos Santos in Vancouver, Canada at UFC 131. He now faces one of the toughest tests of his career in Alistair Overeem.

On his recovery from surgery for diverticulitis:

Honestly? Not really. I didn’t think about that. I’m a guy that focuses on the task at hand and for me it was my health. I had been something that had been hindering me for some time. I tried fighting it and was unsuccessful at it. The surgery was a huge success and here I am.

On getting the call to fight Alistair Overeem:

I was riding on my tractor on my farm in Canada and I got the call. They proposed Alistair and I said “Absolutely. Let’s do it. I feel good. Just let me get my crops off my field and get home.” At the time I hadn’t started training but it was game on. I knew that the surgery was a huge success and I healed up normal and I was ready to go.
