Dan Hardy Wants to Smash Matt Hughes in the Face

Dan Hardy is one of the few UFC fighters to be kept on the UFC roster despite a four fight losing streak. His “coming to fight” has overridden the need for success thus far and now Hardy is looking for another big name for his next fight.

According to ESPN he has his sights set on a welterweight legend:

“I’ve mentioned Matt Hughes to Lorenzo [Fertitta],” Hardy told ESPN. “He’s been on a rough streak as well recently, he’ll look at me and see I’ve lost four fights and think he can outwrestle me.

“I also genuinely don’t like him. I need a fight to get up for and I’d take great pleasure in smashing him in the face. I won’t talk about why I don’t like him, it’s some knowledge I have about him away from the sport. Even students around where he lives bet against him.”

If Hughes plays around in the stand-up he’d likely get busted up, but Hardy’s wrestling has proven to be flawed enough that if Hughes comes out and wrestles it’s a legitimate path to victory.

I suppose given both men and their respective lack of relevance in the division, this is a reasonable fight for either fighter.
