It looks like most of the potential for the UFC 141 main event between Alistair Overeem and Brock Lesnar to fall apart over Overeem’s “random” drug test has been put to rest. After initially submitting a blood test rather than urine, then a urine test after being told that blood was not the requirement and having both tests supervised by his private doctor without Nevada State Athletic Commission approval, Overeem was told that he’d have to fly to the UK to take a supervised urine test.
We were told to expect Overeem’s test results back today and now Dana White has tweeted out:
I made a call to confirm that “ready to go” did, in fact, mean the test was clean and was told that it does.
As part of mishandling the original testing situation, Overeem will be tested again once he lands in the United States before the bout and will be tested after the bout (as is standard practice) as well as twice more randomly in the coming months.
Barring a completely unexpected failure upon landing in the States, UFC 141 is going to have its huge main event.
