Gegard Mousasi defeated Ovince St. Preux by Unanimous Decision with all three judges scoring the fight 29-28.
The first round started with St. Preux landing a leg kick. Mousasi landed several punches. He opened up with a leg kick and it obviously bothered St. Preux. St. Preux’s leg kick was blocked and Mousasi took OSP to the ground. Once on the ground Mousasi worked from high half guard and landed several elbows. OSP powered and looked to have scrambled out but Mousasi forced the fight back to the ground. Mousasi passed to side control and began to work for a kimura. OSP escaped and gained top control. Mousasi hit a sweep and closed the round raining down punches from the crucifix.
OSP opened the second round with a lazy shot and Mousasi tripped him to the ground. Mousasi stacked OSP and passed to half guard. Gegard landed several elbows that opened up a small cut on Ovince St. Preux’s face. Gegard landed multiple punches while the referee warned of a stand up. Mousasi lands even more punches and the ref stands them up. Mousasi caught a St. Preux knee and tried to get the takedown. OSP ended up on top and passed to side control. The ref is threatening OSP with a stand up while he works from side control. Mousasi scrambled and got back to his feet. The round ended with Mousasi sprawled out after a lazy St. Preux shot.
Mousasi opened the final round with a leg kick and then clinched against the fence. Gegard took Ovince down and then transitioned to his back. OSP scrambled and muscled a takedown. He passed to side control and started throwing punches to the head. The ref threatened another stand up and OSP got mount and started to throw punches. Mousasi scrambled out and got his own takedown. Mousasi worked from half guard and attempted a pass to arm bar when the referee threatened a stand up. OSP rolled and ended the fight on top and working for a guillotine choke.
Gegard Mousasi entered the fight with Ovince St. Preux after a draw in his fight with Keith Jardine. He is likely in talks for the Strikeforce light heavyweight title. Ovince St. Preux is still a prospect and failed in his shot to move from prospect to legit elite talent.
