UFC 142 Prelims To Air On FX With Six Fights

A day after announcing a new weekly UFC news show on Fuel TV, the promotion will make its debut on FX with the prelims for their first event of 2012: January 14th’s UFC 142 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The FX broadcast will feature the following six fights:

  • Sam Stout vs. Thiago Tavares
  • Mike Pyle vs. Paulo Thiago
  • Fabio Maldonado vs. Stanislav Nedkov
  • Rob Broughton vs. Ednaldo Oliveira
  • Felipe Arantes vs. Antonio Carvalho
  • Yuri Alcantara vs. Michihiro Omigawa

This will officially end the Facebook era of streaming prelim fights, which kicked off with January’s Fight For The Troops 2 event. While it’s expected that Fuel will take over airing the vast majority of all the UFC prelim fights, FX got the nod for this one. Since September 2009 with UFC 103, Spike began to routinely air one-hour prelim events for a majority of pay-per-views while ION Network also aired two prelim shows in 2011.

The UFC 142 pay-per-view is headlined by Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo vs. Chad Mendes, Vitor Belfort vs. Anthony Johnson, Rousimar Palhares vs. Mike Massenzio, Erick Silva vs. the debuting Siyar Bahadurzada and Terry Etim vs. Edson Barboza.
