When Frank Mir shattered Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira’s arm at UFC 140, it seemed like it was going to be a very long time before Nogueira ever stepped back in the cage. In fact, it seemed possible that the injury would be so severe that “Big Nog” might never fight again.

Dana White tweeted out a picture the day after the fight saying that they were flying Nogueira to LA to get the broken arm fixed.

But now his brother, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira tweeted the following:

Oh, you probably want a translation (via Tom Mendes):

We’ve just received the diagnosis from the doctor, he said he prefers not to operate and said it will heal, that in five months he’ll fight again.

You’re going to have to forgive me for thinking that such a violent arm break will have Nogueira back training or fighting in as little as five months. In fact, it’s hard for me to believe that such a significant break didn’t require surgery.

Then again, I’m no doctor. And, call me a fanboy, but Nogueira is no ordinary man.
