John Cholish defeated Mitch Clarke by TKO at 4:36 in the second round.
John Colish was the first to commit with a fake shot and a short right. His two actual shots were stuffed by Clarke who started to work knees inside the clinch. Cholish’s stand up was sloppy as were his takedown attempts. Clarke was able to take Cholish’ back and get the takedown several times. Cholish rolled for a knee bar and ended up in top control.
In the second round Cholish landed a thumping leg kick early in the round and then established his timing and range. Cholish was working a paced fight with jabs and over hand rights landing with accuracy. John Cholish landed multiple over hands including one that stunned Mitch Clarke. Cholish used this time to get his first takedown of the night. Mitch tried to establish a rubber guard but his legs weren’t high enough. Mitch stood up and in a scramble John Cholish took MItch Clarke’s back and started landing heavy shots that forced Big John McCarthy to stop the fight.
John Cholish wins his UFC debut in the lightweight division.
