Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira quickly established his jab early in the first round. He looked for a takedown but Frank Mir defended the single leg against the fence. Nogueira was looking for knees but got tripped to the ground. Minotauro established the underhooks and stood up. Nogueira landed several elbows against the fence. An inside right hand stumbled Mir. Mir was all but out with Nogueira landing some big shots from the top. Mir regained his faculties and hit a kimura on a sweep. Nogueira tried to rolland defend but Mir stepped over and forced Nogueira to tap. On the replay it shows that Mir snapped Nogueira’s arm.
Frank Mir is not only the first person to knock Big Nog out, he’s now the first man to submit the MMA legend. He’s 13-5 in the UFC and on a three fight win streak. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira is now 4-3 in the UFC. Frank Mir finds himself back in the heavyweight title picture. Nogueira is 2-3 in his last five and may be in the end of his career.
