Amir Khan and Lamont Peterson meet tonight in an HBO Championship Boxing bout in what should, for good reason, barely register on an MMA fan’s radar with the much better UFC 140 to watch. But for the curious, the fight will replay on HBO West and throughout the weekend, and Khan is a true talent in the boxing world.
Given that the event is in Washington D.C., MMA Nation’s Luke Thomas has been all over the fight with videos, interviews and other coverage. You can follow his coverage of the fight here. Also, Scott Christ at Bad Left Hook has done his usual great job of covering the fight and his coverage can be seen here.
Luke’s videos give a good impression to MMA fans of the difference between the boxing fight week lead-up and what we are treated to with major UFC events. Let’s give some of them a watch.
Amir Khan talks to the media:
On if he is moving up in weight:
Yeah. No more tests at this weight [140 pounds]. We’ve proven that we’re the best in this division. And there’s no one touching us. Hopefully we get past Lamont Peterson and then there’s superfights at 147.
And on if he wants to face Miguel Cotto:
Cotto had a great performance. Cotto’s a great fighter, and I’m a big fan of Cotto. He deserves the win. (Would you fight him at 147?) … Yeah, definitely, I’d fight him at 147.
