It appears that Charles Oliveira will make his featherweight debut at UFC on Fox 2 in Chicago on January 28th. Although earlier reports pointed to Oliveira facing Robert Peralta at the first UFC on FX show in Nashville, it appears that match-up has been scrapped and “Do Bronx” will instead face UFC newcomer, Eric Wisely, in featherweight bout on the Fox card according to MMA Junkie:
Charles Oliveira (14-2 MMA, 2-2 UFC) and newcomer Eric Wisely (19-6 MMA, 0-0 UFC) have agreed to meet next in their new weight classes next month at UFC on FOX 2, event sources confirmed with MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).
Oliveira hasn’t seen action since getting TKO’d by Donald Cerrone at UFC on Versus 5 in August. Now looking to boost his UFC record past .500 at a new weight class, Oliveira should prove to be quite large at featherweight and his dynamic skills on the feet and on the ground could prove to be a tough challenge for any UFC featherweight.
Wisely is an Iowa native, and a veteran of the midwest regional scene, and is best known for two wins over former UFC lightweight title contender, Hermes Franca, in 2011, along with a submission win over another former UFC fighter, Matt Veach, earlier this year. Oliveira vs. WIsely is expected to take place on the preliminary portion of the UFC on Fox 2 card.
