The ratings are in for this past Saturday night’s UFC 139 prelims on Spike TV and they’re up slightly. The hour long broadcast drew 1.2 million viewers after UFC 137 drew 1.1 million (0.9 household rating) and UFC 136 an even 1 million. It still is in the bottom third of UFC prelim broadcasts on Spike with the all time mark being 2 million viewers for UFC 126 this February.
The broadcast ranked first in the time slot among males age 18 to 34 and second among males age 18 to 49, only being outdrawn by the ESPN broadcast of the NCAA football game between LSU and Mississippi.
The fights which took place on the broadcast were both short as Michael McDonald blitzed an outgunned Alex Soto and Ryan Bader knocked out Jason Brilz.
There hasn’t been a tremendously strong correlation between the Spike prelim performance and overall number of PPV buys for events.
