Canadian fans will have to wait a bit longer to cheer on one of their favorite sons as fast rising welterweight prospect Rory MacDonald is off UFC 140 due to an undisclosed injury.
Fellow Canadian Claude Patrick has got the call to battle Brian Ebersole in Toronto instead and has been pulled from his fight with Rich Attonito scheduled for the same night.
The 31-year-old Patrick (14-1) is riding a 13-fight win streak and is undefeated in his three UFC battles, last beating Daniel Roberts by decision at UFC 129 in April. Ebersole (48-14-1-1) has won nine fights in a row and is 2-0 in the UFC after first getting a shot at UFC 127 as a injury sub for Carlos Condit. After pulling off an upset in a decision win over Chris Lytle, the 30-year-old returned to action in August with a first round TKO over Dennis Hallman at UFC 133.
The 22-year-old MacDonald (12-1) also completed at UFC 133 in a dominant first round TKO win over Mike Pyle. He’s 3-1 in his UFC career and has been a buzzworthy fighter since making his debut in January 2010.
UFC 140 takes place on Saturday, December 10th, and features UFC Light Heavyweight Jon Jones vs. Lyoto Machida, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Frank Mir and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira vs. Tito Oriz on the main card.
