UFC 137 Results: Donald Cerrone Forces Dennis Siver To Submit

Donald Cerrone entered this fight with a three fight winning streak in the UFC, with some people expecting him to break into the top 10 of the lightweight division. Cerrone, a mainstay of the WEC lightweight division, has always been considered exciting but never was consistent ins his efforts. Dennis Siver is the man that ended the George Sotiropoulos hype train in Australia. He came into the fight on a four fight win streak and was possibly fighting for a shot at the top of the lightweight division if he could come away victorious.

The fight was surprising to say the very least. Cerrone has solid kickboxing but never faced a striker of the same caliber as Dennis Siver. His advantage would be on the ground with his ground game. He never had a reason to bring the fight to the mat. He landed a big head kick that wobbled Siver early in the first round. Siver’s ability to survive only delayed the final result. A second head kick dropped Siver and Cerrone finished the fight with a beautiful rear naked choke forcing the German to tap.

Cerrone is now 4-0 in the UFC with wins over Charles Oliveira and Dennis Siver. He’s now about to become a top 10 lightweight. Siver drops his first fight since 2010 and is left to pick up the pieces.
