A much-anticipated bantamweight battle has been taken off the UFC 135 card due to injuries. Norifumi :”Kid” Yamamoto and Damacio Page will not be competing on the card, unfortunately. MMA Junkie brings the news:
A bantamweight bout between Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto (18-4 MMA, 0-1 UFC) and Damacio Page (15-6 MMA, 0-1 UFC) has been scratched from next month’s UFC 135 event.
Both fighters suffered injuries in the lead-up to the fight.
Yamamoto, a former pound-for-pound rankings candidate, has only been able to compete once in the UFC so far, where he dropped a decision to Demetrious Johnson at UFC 126. He was scheduled to face Chris Cariaso at UFC 130 but was forced to withdraw from that matchup as well due to injury. Page dropped his UFC debut as well, getting submitted by Brian Bowles at UFC on Versus 3. The bout was expected to be a crowd-pleasing slugfest, but was still scheduled for the preliminary card.
