Yet another match-up has been added to one of the UFC’s fall events, this one a light heavyweight bout at UFC 135 in Denver in September. The Daily Telegraph reports (and the UFC’s Australia office confirms) that Aussie, James Te Huna will square off against New Jersey’s Ricardo Romero on the September 24th card:
The Daily Telegraph can reveal Te Huna, the Penrith cage fighter who only recently employed the Eels conditioning team, will face American Ricardo Romero in Denver on September 24.
The Sydney cage fighter has made only two UFC appearances, both in Sydney, but hopes an overhauled training program – similar to the one used by IBO cruiserweight world champion Danny Green – will help him rise up the light heavyweight ranks.
A UFC spokesman last night confirmed verbal agreements were in for the matchup between the Australian power puncher and Romero.
The “Eels” mentioned in the report are the Parramatta Eels, a team in the Australian National Rugby League, who will apparently help Te Huna with his conditioning.
