MMA World Cup: Light Heavyweight Finals

Well, this one seems kind of like a given. Jon Jones and Mauricio Rua advance to the gold medal match – and I think we have a pretty clear picture of how that plays out. The real question is what happens in the Bronze Medal Match. Let’s decide, together you and I.

Gold Medal Match

1. Jon Jones vs. 2. Mauricio Rua

My Take: As the neww champ said so eloquently: “C’mon Son.”

Bronze Medal Match

3. Gegard Mousasi vs. 4. Alexander Gustafsson

My Take: This is a tough one to call. Fans the world over are upset that Mousasi, born of Armenian heritage, is even allowed to compete for the team made up of former Soviet satellites and Republics. What can I say: that bag of cash from the CIS/Assorted team came at a desperate time for me and my family. Anyway, can Mousasi’s experience save him from Alexander’s better physical tools? I don’t think so. Gustaffson becomes a star here.

  1. USA: Jon Jones
  2. Brazil: Mauricio Rua
  3. CIS/Assorted: Gegard Mousasi
  4. Europe: Alexander Gustafsson
  5. Canada: Ryan Jimmo
  6. Asia/AUS: Ryo Kawamura
