Hey gang, I’m back. Brent and I have had our fun with each other in this space, but I want to let you all know that he’s a real swell guy despite his propensity to put people to sleep on the Bloody Elbow radio show. The two of us are working on a special project that we think you’ll all enjoy. We’re going to use it to reboot the Bloody Elbow Night Crew. The best part? You won’t have to stay awake until three in the morning to enjoy.
- If you missed last night’s broadcast of UFC Primetime, you can check out the full video right here on Bloody Elbow. I recommend checking out the first half of part one even if you aren’t interested in watching the UFC attempt to prop Jake Shields up as a legitimate contender for 20 minutes. Looks like Georges St. Pierre is doing his best to land that post-fight backflip.
- Matt Bishop tried to figure out his Bellator season 4 apathy. Here’s a clue: Cole Konrad and Paul Buentello were set to headline Bellator 42 this weekend.
- Jonathan Snowden talked to M-1 prospect Guram Gugenishvili, while Leland Roling took a look at Lyoto Machida’s career post-UFC 98.
- Breaking news: Brock Lesnar is MMA’s highest-paid athlete. He makes the same amount of money as Luke Donald of the European PGA Tour and former no.1 female tennis player Kim Clijsters.
- I listened to MMA’s elite journalists ask GSP and Shields about the expected 55,000-person crowd for an hour. Then I detailed my membership in the White Sox Kids Club on the 27th episode of Bloody Elbow Radio.
- Bishop continued to pull his weight with part two of his look at the “magic” of Randy Couture. I can’t wait until we get to the part where Couture starts dating women half his age. Brent also took a look at comments Couture made to ESPN about unions, insurance, and the future of MMA. “Look at football. The players are looking at a lockout because they might have to play two more games in a season and not increase their pay. I mean, why are you in the sport? Because you love to play the game, right?” This is coming from the same Randy Couture who left the UFC twice over contract disputes.
- Vitor Belfort is fighting Yoshihiro Akiyama in August. In Philadelphia. What?
- Quick hits. The UFC will air every fight scheduled for UFC 129. Michael Bisping says what we’ve all been thinking (and saying) about Alan Belcher’s Johnny Cash tattoo. Ed Soares leaves the door open for Anderson Silva to fight Jon Jones.
