The Ultimate Fighter 13: Team Lesnar vs. Team dos Santos Live Discussion (Episode 4)

Join Bloody Elbow on Wednesday nights to discuss the latest episode of the Ultimate Fighter 13, featuring former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar and rising star Junior dos Santos.

Not that you need another indication of how disappointing this season has been, but I nearly forgot to write up your weekly Ultimate Fighter discussion post, my dear reader.

It’s difficult to write about this show. When I think back to last week’s episode, I remember Lesnar and dos Santos both quashing the “drama” that Spike TV built up with Team Lesnar’s chicken salad mutiny and Lew Polley acting like a hardass. The fight is a blur. I don’t even know who fought. In fact, I’ve watched every episode over the past three weeks, and I couldn’t name a single fighter-contestant on the show if my proverbial life proverbially depended on it.

I could discuss all the things the Ultimate Fighter does wrong, propose some changes to the format to make it more interesting, but plenty of other people have done that. And it’s a futile enterprise, in any case. There’s no reason to expect Spike TV to alter a format that draws over a million viewers each week.

In other TV news, I’m glad Norm MacDonald is back on my television once a week. I suspect Norm is an MMA fan. He made a reference to the UFC-WEC merger in his debut show (they combined to form a new sport: murder), and last night his “nephew” Kyle detailed his experience at UFC 121

This week on the Ultimate Fighter, Brock Lesnar brings former UFC welterweight champ Matt Hughes in to train with his team. Click here for a sneak peak of tonight’s episode.
