Bloody Elbow Radio, presented by Bad Boy, was live Tuesday afternoon to discuss the latest in MMA, including a final wrap-up of UFC Fight Night 24. Hosts Matt Bishop, Forrest Lynn, Brent Brookhouse and then Matthew Roth also discussed the impending debut of The Ultimate Fighter 13 with coaches Brock Lesnar and Junior dos Santos, our expectations for the show, our favorite TUF seasons and more.
We had a great lineup of guests on the show. We started off the show with long-time PRIDE Fighting Championships and current Showtime announcer Stephen Quadros to discuss Friday’s Strikeforce Challengers 15, the Zuffa buyout of Strikeforce, his love of video games and more. Make sure to listen for his Playstation 3 gamer tag.
We chatted with him if he’s noticed any changes since the buyout.
“There hasn’t been any changes. Obviously there’s been the changes in the rules … but as far as me with any changes, it’s business as usual. Working with the same producer, the same director over at Showtime and of course, I love the team of Mauro Ranallo, Pat Miletich and myself. So it’s going to be business as usual from where I stand.
“We’ve had a conference call and it’s a thing where we need to find out more information. It’s one of those things, they had a meeting after the conference call, apparently Lorenzo Fertitta met with the Showtime brass and it’s a thing where we’ll know when it’s time for us to know. I’m just going out there and doing the best job I can as I always do and I hope for the best because I’ve been in the game a long time and I really enjoy the game still.”
Later in the show we were joined by new UFC middleweight signee Jorge Santiago. We discussed his UFC 130 fight with Brian Stann, the forming of his new camp with Rashad Evans, the Villefort brothers and others, his views on fighting teammates and more.
“It’s kind of getting back everything. In the UFC, I didn’t have a good experience before and now I have a chance to go back and redo it. I’m very excited. This is the place every fighter wants to be. The UFC is the biggest organization and I’m very excited. That’s all I can say. I’ll train very hard to leave a big impression in my first fight.
“I’m doing this because we always try to be the best … I have to do it a different way now. It’s the new way of Jorge Santiago. The way I’m fighting right now.”
Finally we were joined by Bellator light-heavyweight Richard Hale for a great interview. Check out Bloody Elbow later today for a full story on Hale and his inverted triangle choke of Nik Fekete on Saturday at Bellator 38.
Bloody Elbow Radio returns to the air at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT Thursday with MFC lightweight Marcus Davis and a preview of the weekend in mixed martial arts.
