UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva Discusses Jon Jones

ULTMMA has a video of a brief interview with Anderson Silva in which Silva is asked directly about Jon Jones. As I posted on the subject of Jones vs. Silva mere hours ago, now is a good time to see Silva’s reaction to being asked about Jon’s skills and the possibility of moving back up to light heavyweight. Here’s the video along with a few quotes:

Jon Jones is very, very…the big techniques. Jon Jones is, I don’t know, amazing.

…My opinion of Jon Jones? Champions for a long time.

Will you ever go back to 205?

I don’t know.

…I’m very happy [at middleweight]

Silva goes on to explain that he feels like he still has fighters to deal with at 185 pounds and that he is happy with his current situation. It sounds like a situation where Silva won’t close the door on it but is much more interested in staying at 185.

Really, who can blame him? If his goal is to make the most money he can in his last few fights, he should be looking for the more “winable” superfight against GSP. Losing badly to Jones would possibly cut into the desire for fans to see his next fight. While that same possibility exists were he to lose to a lighter opponent in GSP, the money he makes off the St. Pierre fight is likely much, much better than the Jones fight.
