UFC 128 Results Recap: Luiz Cane vs. Eliot Marshall

Eliot Marshall made his return almost a year to the day that he last fought in the UFC. Unfortunately, he ran into Luiz Cane at UFC 128. Cane blitzed Marshall early and forced a stoppage at 2:15 of round one.

What was the high point of the fight?

Luiz Cane looking like the violent buzzsaw that we saw in fights with Jason Lambert, Sokoudjou, and Steve Cantwell. Cane looked befuddled in his last two fights against Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Cyrille Diabate, both southpaws.

Where do these guys go from here?

Cane gets his career back on track after the aforementioned losses. He’s probably looking at either participant in the Vladimir Matyushenko-Jason Brilz fight at UFC 129 or a journeyman like Stephan Bonnar.

In a less forgiving world, Eliot Marshall would find himself on the outside looking in on Monday morning. However, taking fights on short notice is always a good way to guarantee yourself a spot in the UFC’s good graces. Expect Marshall to have another fight in the organization before ending up back in regional shows.

Watch it now, later, or never?

It’s not the most immediate thing in the world, but check it out if you have a couple minutes to spare.
