Jim Miller admitted that watching his brother Dan Miller fight Nate Marquardt added some stress while warming up for his own bout with Kamal Shalorus. Fortunately, the disappointment of Dan’s loss didn’t affect Jim, who came out and outfought Kamal Shalorus before finishing him with strikes at 2:15 of round three.

Jim Miller. The kid now has seven straight wins in a very deep lightweight division, and has done so in exciting fashion.

Miller’s in a weird spot. He was ranked as the number seven lightweight in the world according to our Consensus Rankings. The problem for him is that Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard are busying themselves with a third fight, Kenny Florian is testing himself at 145 pounds, and B.J. Penn is caught in a quagmire with Jon Fitch at welterweight. Miller might be Clay Guida’s number one fan right now, as Dana White has insisted that Anthony Pettis is next in line if he gets by Guida at the Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale. Miller’s now in MMA purgatory as he lets the situation around him unfold.
Kamal Shalorus will probably stick around for another couple of fights, but he’s going to have a hard time competing in the UFC with such a limited skill set.
