How did these guys get here?
Chris Tuchscherer trains with Brock Lesnar. In 2008, he reached the finals of the infamous YAMMA Pit Fighting tournament, where he lost to Travis Wiuff. The biggest win on his ledger is Krzysztof Soszynski, who now fights at 205 pounds.
Mark Hunt made his name in kickboxing at the turn of the millennium. He won the 2001 K-1 World Grand Prix tournament, and owns a 30-13 record in professional kickboxing. He made his MMA debut in 2004 for Pride, losing to Hidehiko Yoshida. He won five straight fights, including split decisions over MMA legends Mirko Filipovic and Wanderlei Silva, before dropping six consecutive fights. Hunt hasn’t won a fight since 2006.
Why should you care?
I want to say that you should pray this doesn’t make any of the broadcasts, but the only reason the UFC would air this is if someone’s lights go out. I also want to say that the UFC cuts the loser, but Hunt may have another guaranteed fight on his contract. Let’s hope not.
