Join Bloody Elbow every Wednesday night to discuss the latest episode of the Ultimate Fighter 12, featuring UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre and Ultimate Fighter 1 alum Josh Koscheck.
I’m a very happy man this week. ESPN finally gave Joe Morgan the boot from Sunday Night Baseball (Jon Miller joined him as collateral damage). While I have no hope that the UFC will sack Mike Goldberg (awesome, highly updated site through the link) any time in the near future, it goes to show that you can’t get through life as a commentator refusing to make any effort in educating yourself and improving at your craft.
It made me pause and think about how TUF fights air without a commentary track. It’s refreshing. I’m not distracted by the inanity of Goldberg and, at times, Joseph Rogan. I can focus on the action and come up with my own judgements before my mind is clouded by whatever Goldberg and Rogan decide to describe. I know some people mute their TV during a UFC broadcast. I feel disjointed without the ambiance of the crowd on the back-and-forth thuds of two human beings attacking one another.
In other TUF-related news, Andre Galvao auditioned for the next season of the show. Someone might want to inform him that TUF abides by the Unified Rules, allowing strikes and preventing him from wearing a gi into the cage.
I suggest you watch last week’s TUF Aftermath. The exchange between Marc Stevens and Josh Koscheck regarding Stevens guillotine defense is gold. Koscheck is an a——, and that’s why I love him.
Quarterfinals are set. I predict we see McKenzie, Brookins, Watson, and Johnson in the semis. Yippie ki-yay, Mister Falcon.
