Chan Sung Jung came into his second WEC fight riding a huge wave of hype as his “Korean Zombie” and brawling style was a huge hit at WEC 44. But George Roop brought it all crashing down with a high kick to Jung’s face in the second round at WEC 51.

Jung’s relentless forward moving style played into Roop’s hands as the American used his reach advantage to connect with many hard jabs. The Zombie was game and came forward several times in the fight swinging his trademark haymakers but Roop was able to avoid taking much, if any, damage.

Finally early in the second round Roop put the “Big Kibosh” on Jung with a punching combo followed by a perfect switch kick to the chin. Jung’s head bounced hard off the canvas and the ref stopped it. KO Roop at 1:30 of Round 2.

Here’s Brent Brookhouse’s blow by blow of the fight from Bloody Elbow’s Live Blog of WEC 51 of the event:

Roop vs. Chan Sung Jung – Round 1 – Leg kick by Jung and a hard jab by Roop. Jung with the leg kick again and they trade punches. Garcia counters a jab with a low kick. Big uppercut lands for Jung. Body kicks by Roop now. Roop with an overhand right and then back to the jab. Body punch is countered by a body kick by Jung. Roop lands some punches against the cage and Jung lands a knee to the body. The round ends after a few more similar exchanges and I’d score that 10-9 Roop.

Round 2 – Body kick by Jung early in the round. Head kick by Roop lands. Right hand by Jung and now he starts firing big punches but they almost all miss completely. Head kick lands HUGE for Roop and Jung is out cold. Oh my, that was brutal. George Roop wins by KO (head kick), round 2.
