DREAM.16 Post-Fight Interviews: Jason “Mayhem” Miller and Gegard Mousasi

“You know, I think that I have just shown a small bit of what I’m capable of inside a ring, or a cage, or a parking lot. So the future is going to show that I’m a lot better fighter than I’ve shown in the past, and I’ve just begun my climb towards legendary status. I feel like tonight was the first step in reaching the level of someone like Sakuraba… [My next fight] is up to my manager, Ryan Parsons. Whatever he says, I’ll just go and fight. If he wants me to fight in his backyard against his three-year-old daughter, I will fight her.”

— Jason Miller after his first-round submission victory over Kazushi Sakuraba today in Nagoya, Japan.

Of course, I want to be champion for a long time. I think in two, three years, maybe go to heavyweight and fight for two years, and I think at 30 I want to stop fighting. If I win the heavyweight belt, I think I’ve acheived all my goals. Of course, I want to prove myself over in the U.S., so if I get the opportunity to fight in Strikeforce for the light-heavyweight belt, I will do everything I can to win that belt, too.

— Gegard Mousasi on what goals he has left in MMA.
