Clay Guida and Rafael dos Anjos’ lightweight contest at UFC 117 came to an anticlimactic end when Dos Anjos tapped out due to injury in the third round. As it turned out, the Brazilian had fought for about ten minutes with his jaw cracked in two places, and was finally forced to submit when Guida rammed a shoulder into his face from half-guard.
With Dos Anjos himself presumably not doing much talking at the moment, Tatame Magazine’s Guilherme Cruz spoke to his wife, Cristiane, and got this update:
“He broke his jaw in two places in the first minute of the first round… We’re still in the United States, he’s being operated on here. If everything goes well, I think we’ll go back to Brazil on Saturday.”
