Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante knocked out Antwain Britt in the first round with a brutal flurry of punches.
Two light heavyweights met in the opening bout of Showtime’s broadcast of Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery, American Antwain Britt and Brazilian Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante. Both fighters were highly touted prospects at one point who’ve seen some ups and downs in their career.
Britt came out throwing hard leather to open the fight, but Feijao showed a remarkable chin to survive the early storm. At one point he appeared staggered by a short punch from Britt. But Feijao recovered and then late in the round he poured it on, staggering Britt with an overhand right to the jaw and then quickly moving in with a brutal combination of punches to finish his foe.
It is expected that Feijao will be in line to challenge Muhammad “King Mo” Lawal for the Strikeforce light heavyweight belt.
