UFC 111 Results: Georges St-Pierre Outclasses Dan Hardy Over Five Rounds

Well, that went about as expected.

Georges St-Pierre fulfilled the prognostications of nearly every MMA pundit around the globe.  For five rounds, St-Pierre had his way with Dan Hardy, finishing takedowns and passing guard at will.  Hardy claimed he wasn’t worried about being taken down, and that showed in the fight.  St-Pierre didn’t allow Hardy much time to land the knockout punch needed to take the fight.

Hardy was game, though.  St-Pierre had Hardy in deep trouble twice in the fight.  In the first round, St. Pierre locked on a deep armbar.  Hardy grimaced in pain as he escaped out from underneath the champ.  Throughout the fight, St-Pierre worked for a kimura, and finally clamped one on in round four.  Hardy showed some intense mental fortitude while St-Pierre twisted his arm around Hardy’s back.

The fight wasn’t close, and the scorecards reflected that: 50-43, 50-44, and 50-45.  The mystery of GSP’s wrestling remains unsolved.
