Ricardo Almeida opened the Spike with his move down to welterweight; Nate Diaz followed with his move up to welterweight. Rory Markham added a little extra spice to the fight, coming in six pounds over the 171 limit.
It didn’t matter much to Diaz. With Markham throwing one punch at a time, Diaz countered with four or five of his own in typical Diaz brother style. Diaz dropped Markham with a knee to the head from the Thai clinched, which left Markham in the turtle position.
Diaz grabbed back control and it was academic from there. Diaz locked on a body triangle and launch punches until Markham covered up and forced the referee to step in and stop the bout.
