UFC 110 Results: Wanderlei Silva Drops Michael Bisping

MMA legend Wanderlei Silva took a unanimous decision that his career much needed over Michael Bisping at UFC 110.

After talking some smack before the fight, Michael Bisping came out offering a hand shake in the cage. But once the fight started, he came forward. He got a take down less than a minute in, but the Brazilian fought to his feet quickly. Bisping’s reach advantage let him control the range before again shooting in for the take down. Silva fought his way back up quickly. Silva finally landed a right hand and a leg kick with about 90 seconds left. With a minute left Silva scored but Bisping answered by staggering Silva with a punch of his own. With a few seconds left, Silva tagged Bisping and made his head bounce back.

In the second round, Silva slammed Bisping down with a beautiful trip. Bisping went for an arm bar from the bottom but the Brazilian fought it off. Silva caught the Brit with a hard leg kick to the body as Bisping stood up. Bisping scored with punches then shot in and slammed Silva. Silva quickly rolled free and took the fight to the feet. Silva had a near miss with a looping right hand but he pressed Bisping back. Body kick followed by leg kick scored for the PRIDE champ. Bisping shot in for a take down but Silva got him in a guillotine and squeezed impossibly hard as the round ended. Bisping was lucky to escape the round.

In the third round, Silva worked leg kicks early. Then a high kick, all while looking to force punching exchanges. Silva landed with a hard right that Bisping sought to answer in kind. Then Silva took a low blow. They traded after the break.  Then Bisping shot and got stuffed. The crowd chanted for Silva as the round ran down. Then Silva took a thumb to the eye. Wanderlei fired a series of winging shots, most of which missed. One backed up Bisping with a glancing contact. Silva landed the trip take down again but did nothing with it. Then Silva landed the big one and dropped Bisping. At the end of the fight it wasn’t clear if Silva won by TKO or if the buzzer went off first.
