Donald Cerrone talked to MMA Madness and he dropped this little gem:
“I’m going to call out Jose Aldo and drop down to 145. I’m really looking forward to that. I’m not running away from the 155 pound weight class. I’m going to stay at 155, but just also going to fight at 145.”
Without knowing exactly how well Cerrone will be able to function at 145 this is still a great fight on paper. Knowing that Cerrone wants to drop to 145 and fight Aldo means that we have that potential fight to look forward to down the road along with the Aldo/Faber fight that is amazing on paper, and even an Aldo/Brown rematch is very interesting. Not to mention if a guy like Miguel Torres would be interested in going up in weight to seek out a fight with the champ.
As much as I’ve talked about wanting to see the guys from the WEC merged into the UFC it certainly isn’t due to a lack of compelling match-ups. I just wish there were a better atmosphere for fights of major importance.
