I’ll be brief in last week’s recap. Rampage chose to match up his big white ex-NFL’er, Wes Shivers, against Rashad’s number one pick James McSweeney. After two rounds of heavy breathing, slow movement, and Rashad screaming like a banshee, McSweeney got a bit of a gift decision and advanced into round two.
But no one cares about that. Roy vs. Kimbo. Wow.
It’s no stretch to say that this is the biggest fight in the history of the show. Past seasons had fights that look good in retrospect, but nothing can match the hype of this one.
Dana White’s projecting six million viewers for this one. Six million! On cable!
On paper, it seems completely insane to expect anything other than a dominating Roy Nelson victory. Even some of the hype interviews would lend one to think Nelson takes this, though it sounds like Kimbo puts on a good showing.
With that in mind, I’m most interested in the fallout assuming Kimbo takes the fall here. Do fans lose interest? Does the editing team try to keep him in focus? Will he come back as an injury replacement?
All things said, if you watch one episode of the Ultimate Fighter this season, make it this one.
