Or at least that’s what he told Brasil Combate:
“When I fight for the title, I get out from there as the champion before the time is up, or my opponent does. I won’t let the fight go to a decision,”
There has been a real pronounced push by Maia lately to talk about Anderson Silva at every opportunity. More than likely he’s a smart guy who realizes that Thales Leites did him no favors with his showing in Montreal and knows it is going to take a good amount of self-marketing to get the big fight any time soon. Silva has obviously fired his own shots claiming that Maia is pretentious for talking about a title shot but the stories are mainly bouncing around Brazil and not getting much focus in the states.
Demian is obviously doing the right thing in selling himself as a guy who fights to finish and trying to pound it into everyone’s head that he is not Thales Leites. Still, I can’t help but wonder if he’d do a little better to focus on the upcoming fight with Marquadt and do a little less trying to build himself up with talk through the Brazilian media.
